This hospital was started in a small rented building opposite to the present premises on the fifth of May 1976 by Dr.K.Ravi.It was inaugurated by his teacher the eminent physician Dr.K.N.Pai.The hospital was named as V.K.Krishna Menon Mission Hospital.To start with there was an outpatient section and a five bedded inpatient block. In the year 1976 there were no qualified modern medicine doctors in a radius of twelve kms.The founder made it his motto to serve the community by charging the lowest of fees and free treatment for the very poor.For ten years from 1977 to 1987 we provided free immunisation for all.Dr.K.Leela,the founder's wife joined the hospital in oct:1976.In 1977 June the hospital shifted to the present premises with a new O.P & 30 bedded I.P block ,again with the blessings of Dr.K.N.Pai.In 1980 a new pay ward block of forty rooms was inaugurated by Dr.Pai.By now the doctors numbered six and other staff thirty two.A full fledged laboratory for basic investigations and an Xray & ECG unit were in place.By 1987 Dr.K.Leela completed her P.G in Obs:& Gynaec.In 1989 the hospital was renamed as Leela Ravi Hospital Pvt: Ltd.In the year 2003 the hospital was made a public charitable trust and named Leela Ravi Medical Trust. On the first of JAN:2007 the new OP/Theatre/IC/Wards block was inaugurated by the Hon.MLA Smt.Arundathy. Today the hospital has four departments--Medicine,Surgery, Pediatrics&Obs:Gynaec.We have 24-hr casualty,24-hr laboratory,24-hr Xray/ECG.Ultrasonography is also available .At present we have a bedstrength of 100---40 payward beds/60 general ward beds. The hospital conducts regular free camps for detection of diabetes/hypertension/dyslipidemia.
